1. The Written Word

To live in a home surrounded by books; to give unhurried time and respect to the written word gives us a chance to rest our thoughts and focus our minds in a world of constant stimulation.

We are all familiar with the pleasures of holiday reading, but why wait until your next vacation when transporting yourself anywhere can be done from the comfort of a cozy armchair at home? Books allow us to escape into another world, and the thoughts and ideas we absorb expand our imagination and creativity far beyond the written word.

Reading is a ritual best enjoyed at the end of a long working day. Banish the television from the bedroom and find pleasure in a book and the silence that leads to a rested slumber.

  2. Bedroom

Don’t you long to snuggle up in the womb like comfort of your bed as days grow shorter and nighttime comes calling.  I love the ritual of bedtime reading but the very act puts me to sleep with moments of turning the page. Oh, how I would love a room nearby with a quiet cozy corner as featured here.  This was probably my favorite house from my home book, in that it was modern but so very inviting.books2bed

  3. Doodle Numbers

When it comes to choosing presents for children, take it from me, you can’t go wrong with a book and all the better if it is one that is part-created by the recipent.  The wildly successful series of books on doodle by Taro Gomi for Thames & Hudson with their quirky drawings and intelligent, stylish imagery are perfect for doodlers and daydreamers of all ages – including me!

These charming books are deeply engaging and make wonderful keepsakes which capture random thoughts at a moment in time.  The latest book in the series is called Doodle Numbers and is available now for just £9.99.
